Join us for a webinar exploring the findings of the new report, The Impact of Asset Management and Sustainability on the Economic Depreciation of Real Estate Assets. Commissioned by the IPF Research Programme and undertaken by researchers from Henley Business School, University of Reading, this study builds on two earlier IPF reports focussed on depreciation published in 2005 and 2011, providing an updated assessment of how economic depreciation varies across property sectors and locations and how asset management and sustainability can help preserve value.
The webinar will present the report’s key findings and their implications for investors, asset managers and valuers, including fresh evidence on depreciation rates, the influence of capital expenditure on value retention, and the role of sustainability characteristics in slowing value erosion. It will also feature a discussion on how depreciation is accounted for within investment organisations, exploring current practice, implementation challenges and whether depreciation is adequately reflected in investment appraisals, portfolio management and decision-making.
