The sixth and final session of the series Introduction to Fund transactions will take place on Tuesday 1st December 2026 at PGIM Real Estate’s offices.

Our FUNDamentals series is designed to enhance the understanding of real estate funds through six focused sessions tailored to different aspects of fund management.
Developed by the Education and Training Committee and sponsored by Aztec Group, the series is hosted by PGIM Real Estate.

Session Overview:

This session will focus on transactions, completing the original Fundamentals programme The intention is to move beyond the previous sessions, which covered regulation/tax, fund structures and accounting/financials and look at the transactions a fund actually undertakes.

Topics covered will include:

  • The distinction between direct and indirect transactions, including the advantages and disadvantages of each.
  • The practical considerations involved when a fund manager is deciding what to buy or sell.
  • The transaction process and how decisions are implemented.
  • The difference between corporate and direct transactions and why one structure might be selected over another.
  • Real-life examples of transactions where things do not go according to plan – for example, changes in price or a buyer/seller changing their position, and how these situations are handled.
  • Current market conditions, including the observation that transactions are taking longer and potentially involve more price negotiation/re-trading.

Schedule:
