Build-to-Rent’s Role in Housing Supply

Back to Our Work

‘Build-to-Rent’s Role in Housing Supply’, produced by our Build-to-Rent Committee, explores how the sector can help tackle the UK’s housing shortage and support the Government’s target of delivering 1.5 million new homes.

The report explains what Build-to-Rent is, examines the different models operating across the UK and highlights its potential to deliver high-quality rental and affordable homes quickly and at scale.

Drawing on evidence and case studies from developments across the country, it also demonstrates how Build-to-Rent can stimulate economic growth, unlock regeneration and help create thriving communities.

The report concludes with six key asks for Government, covering tax and regulatory stability, planning reform, development costs and support for innovation, to unlock investment and enable the sector to deliver up to 30,000 new homes each year.
